The Church is the Body of Christ. It is a family of people, broken because of sin, yet redeemed by the blood of Christ as God grants the free gift of forgiveness, salvation, and life. But this life is not simply a life of individuality. It is a life together. As Christ has redeemed us and drawn us close to Him, we recognize that as His Body we are also drawn close to each other. At Faith, we believe that we have the opportunity to share in this life together in a variety of ways.
The Divine Service (Worship)
The majority of the Christian service happens in our daily lives through our vocations. But we believe that the Divine Service is different. The Divine Service is the central place where this community is created. We believe that the Divine Service is not simply our worship and service to God. It is first about God’s service to us. It is a time and place where we receive the good gifts of God as He makes us into His people. It is the place where we hear the Word of God proclaimed and absolution for our sins. It is the place where the sacrament of Holy Baptism grants us adoption into the family of God. It is the place where the Lord’s Holy Supper is given to strengthen and sustain us in the faith. Prayer
Prayer is something that Christians do not only in the Divine Service but throughout the week. It is not simply an obligation, but a gift of God where He desires that we make our requests known to Him because Jesus has become our great High Priest through His death and resurrection. The gift of prayer is also something that shapes and forms us as God grants us the words to pray through His Word. If you would like us to pray for you, you are invited to fill out a prayer request. If you would like to pray personally with someone at the congregation, Pastor Rosebrock is currently making a time available on Tuesdays (1pm to 2pm) open to the public where he is available for prayer or confession and absolution in the sanctuary. In addition, you can set up a time with him or someone else by contacting us.
Catechesis
Catechesis is the continual instruction in the Christian faith. The word derives from Greek and is related to teaching by word of mouth. One of the primary resources for this instruction is found in the Small Catechism, as it contains a summary of Biblical teaching. The Small Catechism plays a vital role in Confirmation, which is a public affirmation of the faith that has been given by God’s Word.
We also see Christian instruction to be an important part of this life together as we are built up by the Word of God through in depth study. This is further reinforced through weekly Bible Study.
Service
In Jesus, we are free to care about our neighbors needs. We believe that it is from the overflowing abundance of God’s grace and mercy that Christian service springs forth to those in need. However, it is not confined to only those jobs within the congregation. We believe that all of our God given vocations are important and vital for our lives as Christians, from our occupations to our homes to our relationships with others. Indeed, the Lord can and does use us in the midst of these callings to share his graciousness and mercy to our neighbors in need. Within the congregation, members of Faith may get involved in a variety of ways. Members are invited to be a part of the Sunday service through reading of Scripture, altar guild, ushering, LWML, etc. Some prefer to be involved with building maintenance and other important weekly tasks. Others partake in projects and events held by the church. To find out what is going on at Faith and how you can get involved, check out our latest Events.
